In 2009, the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) abruptly received thousands of doses of the newly developed H1N1 vaccine to combat the novel H1N1 virus from the California Department of Public Health. As the agency responsible for public health issues in San Diego County, HHSAâs objective was to facilitate the vaccination of the greatest number of people within the initial target populations, as swiftly as possible. HHSA quickly allocated the vaccine to community healthcare providers and mobilized the Countyâs seven health clinics to begin administering the vaccine.
