Year: 2021

Charlotte County participated in the Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps project with the Federal Emergency Management Agency by providing crucial spatial data and elevation information. Flood insurance ratings are crucial for Florida counties to reduce flood insurance rates. Florida is not only unique by being the Sunshine State and a great place to retire, our area is prone to weather situations such as flooding and hurricanes. Charlotte County government prides itself on maintaining a high level of service, as public servants of our community. To achieve our high level of service and promote transparency, we created an online interactive mapping application. This website increases public awareness of what is happening regarding flood zone changes for their property or potential property if they are planning to relocate. During this technology age and now with COVID-19 restrictions, communicating with our citizens and potential citizens is a high priority.
