Year: 2016
The Miami-Dade County (County) Internal Services Department (ISD) is responsible for providing a wide range of internal support services for the ongoing operation of County government to include the management and tracking of over six million square feet of County-owned and leased buildings. ISD has successfully implemented a solution to efficiently calculate usable square footage and rentable areas within its facilities. The OpenCAD module within Infor Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) enables Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology, making information accessible for effective space planning, building occupancy management, and surface area calculations. The implementation automated a cumbersome manual process and provided a convenient procedure for County employees and customers to access and create service tickets using a graphical user interface (GUI). This user-friendly interface allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphical icons and visual indicators, as opposed to text-based interfaces, typed command labels, or text navigation. The module utilizes a graphical viewing of buildingsâ gross surface area, distinguishing non-rentable space from rentable space within each asset. The module equips the County with a powerful tool to automate calculations of rental space for its facilities, enhancing efficiencies and accountability while maximizing potential revenues from rental fees.
