The Eastern Sanitary Landfill (ESL) is owned and operated by Baltimore County and serves its 835,000 residents and thousands of business and commercial enterprises by operating six days per week. The County sought to increase the useful life of the landfill through the use of technology while continuing to maintain excellent environmental compliance, thus deferring the costly expense of acquiring and receiving approval for a new landfill.
