â The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) created an innovative program that supports community needs in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainability through resource conservation. The âEnergy Saving Adventuresâ (ESA) program supports core values of the Departmentâs recreation system and the community need for sustainable future through a variety of services. ESA provides a daily after school program that motivates and empowers youth to create change in the world around them. Activities include educational films, tournaments, science experiments, and recycled arts projects. Each day, teens tackle important concepts through and energy Saving Adventure. In a statewide effort with the California Public utilities Commission (CPUC), the County of San Diegoâs Department of parks and Recreation obtained funds through a Local Government Partnership Program (LGP) with San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E). ESA, through a variety of programming and outreach is supporting the CPUCâs mission of making San Diego County a part of the solution in creating a sustainable California. The ESA program also supports key initiatives of the Department and the communityâs need for a sustainable future.
