In an effort with Chesterfield County’s Information Systems technology Department (IST), the elected Circuit Court Clerk and appointed Juvenile and Domestic Relations District (J&DR) Court Clerk implemented an electronic docket display system which has enhanced the way in which docket information for both Courts is displayed for public use. Using flat panel monitors, the system displays up-to-the-minute docket information in public hallways of two separate Courts Buildings. In appearance, the system is comparable to those used in airports to display up-to-date flight information. The system provides the public instant access to docket information such as names, courtroom location, judge, and the status of cases. The system has been integrated with the existing case management system to allow a daily import of case data and to allow “on the fly” updates when docket information changes at the last minute. The display application is customizable and is equipped to allow the display of visual paging, general information, and miscellaneous alerts. The electronic docket display system has minimized inquiries handled by staff and has ensured that docket information is updated for the public as soon as changes are made throughout a day.
