The Eisenhower Golf Course & Stream/Wetland Restoration project was an innovative collaboration between the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks (DRP) and the Department of Public Works Bureau of Watershed Protection & Restoration (BWPR). This project transformed a worn-out golf course into a sustainable and cutting-edge facility accessible to all Anne Arundel County residents. The outcomes of this complementary restoration effort are as follows:Golf Course Restoration:? A1/A4 Bent USGA spec greens,? ‘Latitude 36’ Bermudagrass fairways and tees,? Efficient double row irrigation, ? Widened ADA-compliant cart paths, ? Lengthened non-limited flight driving range with target greens and a ‘TurfHound’ continuous tee line, ? Elimination of 56 sand bunkers in favor of vegetation berms and valleys,Stream/Wetland Restoration:? 13.23 acres of wetland enhancement,? 6,255 linear feet of stream restoration, ? 790 linear feet of stream daylighting and culvert removal,? 17 new boardwalks (1,343 linear feet of total boardwalk),? 14 equivalent impervious acres of stormwater runoff treated,? Annual prevented pollutant loads of 517 pounds nitrogen, 26.7 pounds phosphorus, and 1,352 pounds suspended solids,? Eradication of existing invasive plant species on-site, ? Planting of over 20 different species of native pollinator plants.
