Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) provides a broad array of IT services as the largest municipal technology provider for County departments, agencies and municipal partners. ITD serves as a partner in innovation for its customers developing solutions moving towards the digital transformation of government. The EASY Pay Mobile Barcoding Application was developed as part of the Miami-Dade County Automated Fare Collection Modernization project. Launched on one of the busiest weekends in South Florida, Ultra Music Festival Weekend, the barcoding application enabled thousands of our patrons streamlined access to ride our Metrorail system with the options to pre-purchase a barcode ticket from their mobile phones, avoiding lines and handling of cash or credit cards at the Metrorail station ticket vending machines. The application was developed by Passport under the sub-contract to Cubic and is integrated within the Cubic Cloud platform. The Cubic Cloud platform includes the contractor provided and managed computing resources and applications. Among the benefits of the EASY Pay mobile ticketing application are the ability to purchase and use mobile barcode tickets as payment at our gates, balance and history management, and integrated trip planning.
