The DuPont | Wappoo Community Plan is a unique community driven planning effort facilitated by Charleston County Government and the City of Charleston to address the needs and desires of the residents and business owners of the DuPont | Wappoo Community. The main focus of the Plan is on implementing the tangible, measurable strategies that came out of the planning process. The strategies address community development needs; land use, zoning and design standards; economic development and revitalization; traffic and transportation issues; drainage and stormwater concerns; and streetscape and community beautification. The County and City have already collaboratively implemented several of the strategies and both entities are committed to implementing the rest of the strategies as evidenced by the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding to do so. The Plan has been embraced by residents and business owners alike, who affectionately refer to it as the “DuWap” Plan.
