This is a different kind of volunteer project—one where county employees volunteered their time and talents to make improvements at a transitional home for medically-fragile children in Gwinnet County. In seven weeks, they raised thousands of dollars worth of cash and materials and designed and built a pavilion, sandbox, sidewalk, retaining wall, and landscaping to provide accessibility for children in wheelchairs and a shaded activity/conversation spot for those who are unusually sensitive to sunlight and heat.
