The Los Angeles County ISD Development Standardization and Modernization Program consists of utilizing various cloud-enabled Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions to enable modern application development for the County. This is centered around GitHub Enterprise which is a foundational building block for modern application development. The platform allows County developers to work collaboratively with each other across teams and departments and provides ways to experiment with code changes and bug fixes without risk of bringing down a production environment, adversely affecting users, or losing the original code. GitHub also enables developers to utilize Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) principles to provide software to users in a reliable, predictable, and repeatable manner. GitHub is the de facto open-source code repository used by millions of developers worldwide which helps ISD and the County reduce new developer onboarding times since most developers will already be familiar with the tool.
