Year: 2021

Supported by the County Board of Supervisors and the County Recorder, Maricopa County is the second largest voting jurisdiction in the United States. With more than 2.6 million voters and a population growth rate over the last 10 years of approximately 22%, the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office has a responsibility to ensure awareness in our jurisdiction on the process of voter registration and elections. This requires the sharing of accurate information on how, when, and where eligible U.S. Citizens can exercise their right to vote. The Recorder’s Office Customer Relations Team is a small but dedicated team of civil servants who have formed a well-trained and informed corps of 638 non-partisan volunteers to help the Office engage the larger Maricopa County community. With the help of Deputy Registrars, the Recorder’s Office has been able to develop and direct activities that educate, empower, and engage our citizens. The Customer Relations Team operates the Deputy Registrar Program under Arizona Revised Statutes § 16-131. D. and § 16-140. E. of the Arizona Constitution. The statutes provide for the County Recorder the appointment of Deputy Registrars to assist in distributing voter registration forms, to assist in registering voters and to accept completed registration forms.
