The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (Public Works) - Automatic Comprehensive Encumbrance System (ACES) is a web application designed to streamline the encumbrance request and authorization process. A web-based form is completed online, stored, and routed electronically for management review and approval. Requests are ultimately interfaced to the Accounting System for final approval. The purpose of ACES is to increase efficiency by improving document tracking and workflow, decreasing paper usage, and minimizing data entry and errors. The application has enhanced Public Works employee productivity by reducing staff time devoted to the encumbrance request and authorization process.
