The Los Angeles County Public Works Department developed a web-based application called the Customer Invoice Payment Status Inquiry (IPSI) which provides customers the ability to view the status of their invoices and payments posted since August 2011 using a Customer ID and Address ID. Customers include cities, other government agencies, utility companies and private citizens.The purpose of IPSI is to reduce the number of payment status inquiries and reduce the number of duplicate invoices. Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with more than 1,800 customers using the website (http://dpw.lacounty.gov/financial/invstat/portal.aspx). Customers have commented that the application is easy to use and has become a valuable tool. The application has not only reduced the number of calls regarding payment status, but has also decreased the number of outstanding invoices.
