The Customer, Assistance, and Resource Experience (CARE) Desk provides “Real Aswers and Real Help” to assist with basic social, mental, and physical health needs of consumers. Beginning July 1, 2010, the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) began collaborating with contract partners, county departments, and community health and faith organizations to identify and pool resources to help meet the pressing needs of the consumers. These partnerships promote a positive and supportive mechanism to do “more with less.” Upon entering a mental health clinic, consumers often present with several immediate needs outside of clinical care. These needs often include shelter, food, clothing, employment services, and support navigating bureaucratic systems. In spite of the dwindling economy, there are over 5000 available resources throughout the Inland Empire. It is crucial to utilize these identified resources to the fullest potential to fill service gaps and provide excellent customer care. The CARE Desk was created to link consumers with resources and services available throughout the community. More than just a number written down on a piece of paper, the service provided at the CARE Desk works to ensure that consumers are actually linked with and able to access the necessary service provider(s) who can assist with their immediate need.
