The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Information Technology Service Bureau provides an essential supporting role in providing technology applications and networks that enable law enforcement and criminal justice personnel to access public safety systems and facilitate protection of life and property. As technology continues to rapidly evolve and MDPD increasingly relies upon applications and networks in the conduct of daily operations, it is imperative that a comprehensive technology and application roadmap be defined to ensure business continuity, protect network assets, maximize the investment in current technology and make sound decisions regarding new innovations for public safety applications. To accomplish this task, Information Technology Services personnel created a comprehensive Crime Data Warehouse solution to integrate existing data from several different crime incident systems into a single data warehouse. This new, comprehensive database contains more than 5.3 million offense-incident records, 1.5 million arrest records and 32.3 million calls for service records.
