National consultants, The Cultural and planning Group, LLC, were hired to conduct research to craft 10-year community Cultural Plan that examines the cultural tapestry of Broward County through its diversity, and connected specifically to the Creative Economy, Cultural Tourism, and Public Art and Design. The research included more than 1,000 community members, and the dedication of hundreds of volunteer Broward County businessmen and women, artists, architects, cultural leaders and residents. It would take more than 30 meetings with focus groups, town hall and individual forums, more than 70 citizens interviewed by telephone and more than 350 residents responding to online surveys, to gather specific and noteworthy information that would become the foundation for a cultural and economic plan – Creative BROWARD 2020, a plan for cultural and economic development.
