The new Court Cost Recovery (CCR) System tracks costs the Miami Dade Police Department (MDPD) incurs by officers and equipment used for investigations where MDPD can seek expense recovery and the payments made towards these costs. It will allow for decentralized data entry by the officers and integrate with MDPD's Human Resource System as well as with CJIS and TIS to ensure the most current and valid data is available and to relieve the work load on Court Services Bureau which currently must perform these checks manually against the multiple systems. It was recommended to create a replacement of the existing Cost Recovery Program System (CRPS) with an enterprise level system that accomplishes the following functional requirements: - Adhere to current best practices, comply with industry standards and leverage existing MDPD information technology infrastructure. - Minimally capture the inputs as documented for the current system. - Allow decentralized paperless web based self/representative entry and approval of cost recovery requests. - Provide interfaces to capture case details, court dates, disposition and award data directly from: o Mainframe CJIS o Mainframe Traffic (TIS) - Minimally provide the outputs as provided and documented of the current system. - Generate additional reports to make the journal entry generation process more efficient. - Create new reports to replace the current hand-written (manually created) output memos, reports, and spreadsheets that are currently done monthly by hand for the Court Service Bureau. - Provide an interface to HRS to allow proper tracking of an officer’s current assignment as well as the assignment at the time of the original recovery request submission. The interface will also enable CPRS to have current HRS table of organization information to utilize for reporting and distribution of funds recovered.
