Based on website industry trends, the need to recruit the millennial generation and a request to improve the end-user’s experience, the Department of Human Resources for the County of San Diego determined that a redesign of its website was necessary. The last website design was done in 2008. The Department of Human Resources website is the second most visited County of San Diego website. The primary reason citizens visit the Human Resources website is to apply for a job. The goals of the redesign were to: • Re-brand the Department of Human Resources to increase its presence and message on the website; • Be competitive and surpass other agencies’ recruitment websites; • Convey information in a user-friendly, intuitive manner; and • Attract the millennial generation.
