Nevada County Information Systems (NCIS) has formed a partnership with City of Grass Valley (COGV) to assist with their overall technology needs. City of Grass Valley (COGV) had for many years contracted with a 3rd party provider for IT services to manage the City’s diverse infrastructure and desktop systems. The scope of this engagement recognized that the City of Grass Valley, (COGV) IT environment was diverse and historically under-managed, leading to high risk of failure and a lack of consistency in hardware type, software versions, and the application of security from desktop to desktop, server to server, and network to network. COGV and NCIS recognized early on that significant changes were required to standardize the COGV IT environment in order for it to be properly managed and maintained. The goal for both the City of Grass Valley and the County is to provide for ongoing comprehensive management of the City’s IT environment, while implementing a plan to modernize the COGV Information Technology across the City enterprise. The close partnership between the City and the County IT department as a result of this effort as fostered good will across many other departments and joint efforts between the two jurisdictions.
