The Purpose of Clark County, Nevada’s Collaboration to Improve an Enhancement Index of County Surveys and Maps was to provide a web-based program that allowed surveyors and persons with interests in surveys and maps to access a cumulative index database, as well as to enhance indexing based on collaboration between local government and the private sector. The site’s statistics are maintained through Google Analytics, and on average, more than twenty people visit the site per day. These are citizens who would otherwise be downloading a document and wading through thousands of pages for the few records they require at a time. This project has also set the groundwork for the re-indexing project for 2011, in that the surveyors’ association has volunteers to help develop new indexing standards for the map.
