Montgomery County, Maryland replaced its criminal justice mainframe records management solution with the Criminal Justice Case Management System (CJCMS). The objective of the project was to assist in the delivery of Safe Streets and Secure Neighborhoods to the residents of Montgomery County with innovative and cutting-edge tools and technologies. This in-house developed case management system enhanced the Criminal Justice (CJ) agencies’ records management capabilities, improved data reporting accuracy, increased data sharing opportunities and enhanced data creation and data update functionality between internal and external CJ agencies. CJCMS is a web-based solution consisting of ten (10) web applications, fifteen (15) web services and seven (7) database-to-database or service bus interfaces, streamlined into a single look-and-feel for ease of use to a client base of approximately 1,500 end-users. The underlying interfaces of CJCMS securely deliver data to the CJCMS database from agencies both internal and external to Montgomery County on average intervals of 15-minutes yielding a significant decrease in manual data entry and faster data processing and records management. Additionally, a centralized reporting solution is used to streamline both the source and retrieval of data to populate reports generated for varying use and audiences.
