The Shenandoah Branch Library of the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) has been hosting the Shenandoah Circulo de?Lectores, an adult Spanish book club serving the patrons of the Shenandoah neighborhood since 2017.?The Shenandoah Circulo de?Lectores?fulfills the needs and desires of a culturally diverse community of adult immigrants that meet and share a common interest in Spanish literature.?The group values respectful discussions that provoke good conversations and learning from the books and each other.?Its members enjoy the sense of community, sharing their diverse cultures and experiences while reading books from authors from their country of origin.?Whenever possible, the group selects English bestsellers, which are translated into?Spanish.?Because of the lockdown brought upon by COVID-19, MDPLS was forced to close its branches temporarily and cancel in-person programming.?For this reason, the Shenandoah Branch Library staff took the initiative and responded by?transitioning?the Shenandoah Circulo de?Lectores?program to Zoom and WhatsApp format.??
