In 2015, Leon County entered into a unique marketing partnership with Choose Tallahassee, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to attract Baby Boomers and retirees to relocate to the Tallahassee-Leon County area. Founded in 2012, Choose Tallahassee is the only public-private partnership of its kind targeting the recruitment of baby boomers in search of a retirement destination to our community. Leon County’s Division of Tourism has been actively involved with the Choose Tallahassee initiative since its inception, providing a wide range of support that seeks to promote the community as a retirement destination. In June 2015, Leon County entered into a formal partnership with Choose Tallahassee to enhance our collaborative efforts to promote the community as a retirement destination. From 2015 to 2017, the County provided administrative and staff support services to Choose Tallahassee through the Division of Tourism. Today, the County continues to provide annual funding to Choose Tallahassee through its marketing budget, serves on the organization’s Executive Board, and collaborates on marketing and promoting our community as a premier retirement destination.
