The mission of the San Bernardino County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is to establish and enforce child and medical support orders, establish paternity, and collect and distribute support to the families we serve. DCSS utilizes the Bridges to Employment Program to assist parents toward employment and self-sufficiency, so they can support their children and families. The Bridges to Employment Program is a referral program made possible through collaboration between DCSS and the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board, which is responsible for administering the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds and programs through their Americaâs Job Centers of California. Our common goals are: ⢠Retrain and find employment for unemployed or under-employed individuals ⢠Connect job seekers to employment that leads to self-sufficient wages ⢠Educate the community on the negative impacts of dropping out of high school ⢠Engage parents and the community as partners ⢠Provide adult intervention, tutoring, and mentorship to students ⢠Address the social and economic needs of families that impact educational success ⢠Set higher goals and expectations for educational and career achievement in our community ⢠Improve âjob-student matchâ opportunities ⢠Foster entrepreneurship and incorporate training that provides students with skills to create their own jobs
