The Buckle up for Life Program is an initiative that was coordinated and run by the Miami-Dade county Community Action Agency as a mechanism to address reducing the number of unintentional injuries that resulted from lack of use of restraints in a vehicle. Many of the victims died and were seriously injured because care seats or seat belts were not used. The goal was to educate families on the importance of seat belt safety and the proper usage of car seats in an effort to reduce injuries. This project targeted a multicultural audience of children,, youth, families, foster parents, and caregivers countywide, comprising English, Creole, and Spanish speaking populations in Miami-Dade County. The dozens of partners to this grant initiative have a long-standing history and experience working in collaboration with local governments, non-profit agencies, and other entities to provide programs, projects, and services on behalf of infants, children, youth, parents, foster parents, caregivers, and families in Miami-Dade County.
