Montgomery County Government has successfully deployed an Open Source Information Technology (IT) Systems Management Tool, drastically improving its management of hundreds of IT systems. Through this initiative, the County has developed proactive responses to system issues, enterprise application monitoring, enterprise analytical reports, IT Asset Monitoring, a high speed of implementation, and a minimal cost of implementation. Among other tangible results, the County was able to save an estimated $320,000 in annual costs that would have had to go towards additional resources that would have been necessary to support the increase in systems and infrastructure complexity.
