San Bernardino County Probation documents an average of 2800 incidents reports (IR) in its Juvenile Detention and Assessment Centers each year. These are made up of actual and averted use of force, code blue and other IR’s (staff/minor injuries, security concerns etc.) The current manual process is time consuming and labor intensive. The department has utilized a team of staff to develop an electronic module within its main case management system to complete this process which is estimated to reduce the time staff currently take to complete documentation by two thirds. This will allow staff to engage youthful offenders in additional targeted programming and services improve outcomes.
