Year: 2020

The Miami-Dade Public Library System’s (MDPLS) Author Series is an array of programs that offer residents of Miami-Dade County an opportunity to meet and engage with authors. Participants can enjoy year-round book talks, readings, interactive activities, book signings and more by established and emerging authors. Authors donate a book and present it at one or more of MDPLS’s 50 library locations. The programs are free of charge to the public and the Library. A highlight of the Author Series is the Local Author Fair. The fair launched on September 2019, with 30 local authors, live music and workshops. It featured keynote speakers Edwidge Danticat and Craig Pittman, drawing more than 250 attendees. The purpose of the program is to support local authors and connect readers with authors. The outcomes and goals of the program include increasing author programming and program attendance, growing the Library’s book collection, exposing the author’s work to the community and promoting the Library.
