About the Program

Category: Information Technology (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

The San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk’s office is committed to providing information to the public that is easy to locate, easy to understand and that fosters increased community engagement. One of the most effective ways to interact with the public is through the department’s website. To make the website more user-friendly and meet the expectations of an online/social media driven public, the site was consolidated and redesigned. A team of county staff members worked together to consolidate the site from two separate content management systems into one. The new site is a cohesive information source that utilizes analytics to remain highly visible on search engines and is now mobile-responsive, making it accessible from any mobile device (e.g., laptops, androids, tablets, and smartphones). The management of the website has been streamlined resulting in faster site-editing turnaround and the ability to add or change information available on the website within hours instead of days. Since its launch in October of 2016, monthly visits to the website have steadily increased from 36,000 to over 48,000 per month. Analytics also show that 69% of new users find the website through a search engine. With the integration of the popup subscription form, there has been an increase to over 1,600 email subscribers.
