Adapted Tango is a program for adults with Parkinson’s Disease offered by the Therapeutic Section of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department (MCPRD). This program involvesan inclusive work out that focuses on increasing balance, hand-eye coordination, initiation of movement, and teaches participants a variety of basic tango steps. Participants work on skill development that they may also be trying to improve through physical therapy, but with Adapted Tango, they have been able to work on those areas in a fun environment. Adapted Tangois a new program for MCPRD Therapeutic Recreation Section that was designed to reach out to an underserved population in our area. The program was open to anyone with any stage of Parkinson’s Disease.
