Julie Ufner

Associate Legislative Director – Environment, Energy & Land Use

Julie Ufner is an Associate Legislative Director at NACo. She is responsible for all policy development and lobbying for the association in the areas of environment, energy and land use. She joined NACo in June of 2002 from the office of former Representative Phil English (Pa.) where she had four years of legislative experience, working on a number of issues, including environmental policy, human resources, energy, banking and international affairs.

Prior to her political experience, Julie worked with adolescents, teens and adults with mental health disorders. Previous jobs include teaching horseback riding, giving guided carriage tours of historic Philadelphia, waitressing, pet-sitting and working in her parents' pizza shop. She has traveled overseas extensively, including several stints living and studying in Japan; she enjoys horseback riding, reading, acting and writing. She originally hails from Butler, Pa., is a graduate of Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania and currently lives in Alexandria, VA.
