David Rhodes is a 24-year veteran of the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and an Arizona native. He currently serves as the Chief Deputy to Sheriff Scott Mascher. David graduated from the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1994 and the International Association Chiefs of Police “Leadership in Police Organizations” program in 2008. David is a graduate of the FBI National Academy session 244 in 2011, and served as the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy Commander from 2011thru 2013. During his career, David moved through the ranks of law enforcement achieving the rank of Captain before receiving an assignment as the Detention Services Commander in 2013. Under direct instruction from Yavapai County Sheriff Scott Mascher to address the mental health crisis in the county jail, David worked with criminal justice partners as well as community partners to create collaborative approaches at jail diversion, including both pre-arrest and post-arrest strategies. David strongly supports the decriminalization of mental illness.
