    Wellness for Every Body

    Hennepin County, Minn.

In counties across our nation, awareness has rapidly grown in recent years regarding adults with SPMI (Serious and Persistent Mental Illness) and the need for services to mitigate their elevated and inequitable risk of early death due to chronic diseases. In 2013-2016, Hennepin County launched Wellness for Every Body to decrease such health disparities and improve quality of life for adults with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in Hennepin County. The operational goal of the pilot project was to assist service providers in supporting individuals with SPMI to make healthy choices regarding eating, being physically active, and decreasing tobacco use through enhanced organizational practices and environments that foster these healthy choices.
