The Community Resources Director directs the administration of a wide array of community programs and services conforming to County policies, objectives, and legal requirements. The Director develops and implements County policies and procedures in conjunction with Board of County Commissioners to assure consistent and quality citizen relations within Arapahoe County. The Community Resources Department is composed of the following divisions: Administration; A/D Works!; Housing and Community Development; Judicial Services; Senior Resources, Veteran’s Services, Volunteer Services and Weatherization.

DUTIES: Directs the Community Resources department in systems, policies, procedures, initiatives, strategies, and solutions. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and mandates. Leads staff in due diligence regarding contracts and grants. Proposes and reviews state legislative bills that may impact Community Resources or the citizens it serves. Works with the community charities and outreach organizations. Leads the Community Resources staff and provides oversight to each division.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Science, or closely related field. Master's Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Ten (10) or more years of varied and progressive public administration experience. Eight (8) or more years of supervisory/management experience. In depth knowledge of one or more functional areas of service offered by the Community Resources Department. Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check. Possession of or the ability to obtain a Colorado class “C” driver’s license. Security clearance required: will require fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.
POST-EMPLOYMENT ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
