    City Manager

Founded in 1912, Chandler, Arizona, is a forward-thinking community built on entrepreneurial spirit and innovation. Each day, Chandler strives to enrich the lives of its residents through quality development and infrastructure, excellent job opportunities, enhanced public safety, and expansive opportunities for art, culture, and recreation. There’s a reason why in the last year 99% of its nearly 270,000 citizens gave exceptionally high marks for their quality of life — they love their one-of-a-kind city!

The City of Chandler operates under a council-manager form of local government. The Mayor & City Council Members are all elected “at large” and appoint the City Manager as the Chief Administrative and Executive Officer of the City. The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the full-service organization and its 1,700-employee workforce. Direct reports include two Assistant City Managers, an Assistant to the City Manager, Executive Management Assistant, and select Department Directors. The City is seeking a City Manager who will lead collaboratively by combining the individual strengths of a very talented workforce to unite around achieving the priorities identified by the Mayor & Council.

The ideal candidate will have broad-based municipal leadership experience or equivalent experience as chief executive or operational leadership roles in large organizations who place a high value on customer service. The minimum educational requirement for the City Manager position is a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university. A Master’s degree, ICMA-CM, and/or Certified Public Manager (CPM) is highly desirable. The City is seeking candidates with seven or more years of experience as a City Manager, Deputy City Manager or Assistant City Manager in a full-service city of similar or larger size and complexity to Chandler.
