The City of Chandler operates under a council-manager form of local government. The Mayor & City Council Members are all elected “at large” and appoint the City Manager as the Chief Administrative and Executive Officer of the City. The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the full-service organization and its 1,700-employee workforce. Direct reports include two Assistant City Managers, an Assistant to the City Manager, Executive Management Assistant, and select Department Directors. A Master’s degree, ICMA-CM, and/or Certified Public Manager (CPM) is highly desirable. The City is seeking candidates with seven or more years of experience as a City Manager, Deputy City Manager or Assistant City Manager in a full-service city of similar or larger size and complexity to Chandler.
