Strengthening Economies in Coal-Reliant Communities through Brownfield Redevelopment
Traditionally coal-reliant communities across both Appalachia and the West are exploring innovative revitalization and economic diversification strategies to build more resilient economies and develop a renewed sense of “place.” Join us for this interactive webinar to explore how brownfield redevelopment is serving as an avenue to spark economic investment and development, particularly in communities impacted by the changing conditions in the coal industry. Brownfields are often abandoned, closed or under-used industrial or commercial facilities-- such as a former factory, warehouse or mine land—where the building or redevelopment of property may be complicated by the presence of a hazardous substance or pollutant. This webinar will discuss best practices in reuse of these brownfield sites and technical assistance resources available from a team of brownfield assistance experts working in communities across the country.
