Stepping Up: Examining Treatment and Service Capacity and Identifying State and Local Policy and Funding Barriers
Join us for the next webinar in the Stepping Up series to learn about strategies for examining treatment and service capacity and identifying state and local policy and funding barriers to minimizing contact with the justice system and providing treatment and supports in the community. As the first of three webinars focused on Module 3 of Stepping Up, a national expert will provide an overview of the Sequential Intercept Model to identify criminal justice system intercept points (e.g., arrest, pretrial, reentry, etc.) where change can be made to reduce the number of people with mental illnesses in jails. Additionally, a county will share its process for assessing their capacity, opportunities and barriers to implementing policies to impact this population. The following two webinars in this module will provide more detail on the two areas that can have the most impact on reducing the number of people with mental illnesses in jails: law enforcement and diversion practices and connecting people to community-based services upon release.
