Correctional facilities across the nation serve an estimated 2 million people with serious mental illnesses annually, with more than 75% also having a substance use disorder. The prevalence of people with serious mental illnesses in jails is 3-6 times higher than for the general population.
This session features two early engagers in the Stepping Up initiative – Johnson County (KS) and Bernalillo County (NM) – discussing their strategies to use data and technology to manage their justice-involved populations
The overall goals: Improve lives with effective diversion, care coordination and transitions of care among multiple agencies and programs.
