Securing Long-Term Local Investments in the FAST Act Reauthorization

Thu. March 25 | 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Counties play a major role in transportation and infrastructure, owning 45 percent of public roads and nearly 40 percent of America's bridges - more than any other public entity. As a result of the significant county stake, surface transportation laws and the funding and policies they authorize are critical for local projects. The current surface law, P.L. 114-94/the FAST Act, will expire in September. Join this Capitol Hill briefing to hear local priorities from county leaders, as well as outlooks and updates from Members of Congress tasked with renewing the surface transportation law.

Networking Hour

Thu. March 25 | 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm

Join fellow NACo members for engaging conversation and some fun! The networking will begin with a very short comedy performance from Water Coolers, then we’ll move to breakout sessions where you can meet up with like-minded colleagues for engaging discussions focusing on a variety of topics.

Join one of four breakout rooms!

  • Our Furry Family
    • A furry representative (and their human friend) from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, Va. will join us for the beginning of the breakout to jumpstart a discussion about our pets. Be ready to ask questions or show off your furry family
  • A Game of Conversation
    • What are the three things that give you the most energy? What new talent did you learn this past year? Join your colleagues for an uplifting and engaging conversation about the things that matter.
  • Adventures in Free Time
    • What have you done or are planning to do post-pandemic or what adventures did you pursue during this unique time?
  • Your County Talks
    • Looking for advice on a particular issue facing your county? Network with colleagues who may have already been there or brainstorm new and innovative solutions with new and old friends.
