This mobile workshop focuses on how arts and culture can be integrated into the post-disaster recovery process and the strategies cultural institutions have taken to rebuild post-disaster, in partnership with county government. Join a tour of Riverfront Park and the Nashville Symphony for a discussion on recovery from the 2010 flood, the construction of the park as a flood mitigation tool, and a visit to Tool Fire and Pier art installations. Learn about Davidson County’s recovery efforts from emergency response professionals. Bus departs Delta Portico at 2:00 pm. Join the Cumberland River Compact (CRC) for a discussion on green infrastructure, water policy, engineering, construction and environmental policy, with an emphasis on best practices for other waterfront counties. Tour the River Center and learn about the history of the CRC, its partnerships and the transformation of the Cumberland River into a popular recreation destination and the cornerstone of Davidson County’s waterfront revitalization. Join the Mayor’s Office of Housing team and developers on an affordable housing tour and discussion on how they have partnered to create and preserve these units within the city’s core and close to employment centers. Learn more about the city’s Barnes Fund for Affordable Housing and the Housing Incentives Pilot Program, two innovative programs that are successfully changing the way developers are creating affordability throughout the county. Visit the Oasis Center, a nationally-recognized organization serving over 3,000 youth and their families in Davidson County. Oasis Center offers wrap-around services from emergency shelter to practical skills workshops, counseling, career and entrepreneurial skills training and more. Tour Oasis Center's unique facility, co-located with shelter space and other youth services organizations, and learn about Oasis Center's unique programs: College Connect, offering support and guidance for lower-income and first-generation college students; the Mayor's Youth Council, a civic engagement initiative for Davidson County youth; and Oasis Venture, a program designed to help youth learn entrepreneurial skills while creating their own business models. Bicycle Ride with ofo All are invited to enjoy a bike ride through some of Nashville’s nicest green spaces. This ride gives participants the opportunity to use technology and equipment — including bicycles and helmets — provided by ofo, the world’s first and largest station-free bike sharing platform.
