NACo’s Virtual Town Hall series on the opioid crisis began on June 9 with a discussion of local opioid abuse prevention strategies. In the second Town Hall, we will focus on local efforts to provide treatment to individuals struggling with drug addiction. As rates of opioid abuse have skyrocketed in communities across the country, local resources like treatment beds, medication assisted treatments and skilled professionals have been placed under significant strain. During this session, we will discuss programs and innovations that have proven effective in helping to ease this strain on resources. We will also assess what additional federal, state and local resources may be needed to stem the tide of the opioid crisis.
