Counties across the nation encourage international economic development in many ways, but not every county leader understands all the tools available to their communities and businesses. The Economic Development Administration, in collaboration with SelectUSA and the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee, funded the "International Engagement Ready Communities" (IERC) initiative to produce a rigorous set of tools that counties can use to develop and execute a plan to attract foreign investment and promote exporting. SRI International, the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) and Stone & Associates conducted the research and are building a toolkit based on the findings. At the IED Task Force meeting this year, Mr. Mark Troppe and Mr. Michael Stone will present the results from their analysis and hold a hands-on, interactive session to train county leaders how to use the IERC toolkit to better engage the global market. This session is hosted by the NACo International Economic Development Task Force and open to all conference attendees.
