The subcommittee is hosting a session on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. TANF provides funding to states to promote employment and to help families care for children in their own homes. Several highly populated states administer TANF at the local level, and overall, more than 50 percent of the national TANF caseload is administered by counties. Federal officials and congressional staffers will join us to discuss TANF and its potential reauthorization.
