Join the National Association of Counties and your peers for a one-and-a-half-day peer exchange on county justice issues, hosted in Charleston County, S.C. This event will bring together county leaders and experts from across the country to visit Charleston County to learn about its efforts to implement a risk-based assessment for law enforcement, address racial and ethnic disparities in the justice system, the establishment of its Tri-County Crisis Stabilization Center and more. Participants will also learn about the benefits of a criminal justice coordinating council, how to effectively collaborate with local law enforcement and will engage in discussions about how to implement change in their own jurisdictions.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and will be capped at 15 participants. No more than two individuals from the same county may attend, and priority will go to elected officials who have not previously attended a NACo Peer Exchange. Registration deadline is March 28.
As we anticipate considerable interest in this event, please do not book any travel until you hear from Vernon Smith, Senior Associate for Justice, that you have been approved to attend the event.
