Given the significant role that counties play in keeping local communities safe and their residents healthy, it should come as no surprise that growing rates of substance abuse across the country impact counties in numerous ways. In their roles as administrators of local justice systems and deliverers of health services, counties often serve as the first responders to substance-‐related crisis and as the safety-‐net treatment providers for those battling addiction. In part one of this two-‐part workshop, you will learn about these and other impacts of substance abuse on counties within the evolving substance abuse landscape.
