Today, there is an unprecedented need for high-speed internet access. With a plethora of federal funds becoming made available for high-speed internet deployment, counties need to ensure they have a full grasp of the variety of considerations and decisions that are beneficial to ensuring they can adequately participate as partners in the deployment of high-speed broadband access.
Join NACo for our Broadband Boot Camp for Counties, an interactive webinar series geared towards county officials and senior staff who are new to the broadband world and seek to get involved on connecting their communities to high-speed internet access. Hear from experts in the field on the What, Why and How behind broadband deployment, and get all of your questions answered within a forum designed exclusively for county officials and staff.

Urge your Members of Congress to support the Community Broadband Act, which is a bill that prohibits states from blocking the provision of broadband by public providers, public-private partnership providers, or cooperatively organized providers. The bill would furthermore require that public providers and state or local entities participating in a partnership administer applicable ordinances and rules without discrimination against competing private providers. -

Support the Deployment of Next Generation 911 Bill
Urge your Members of Congress to support legislation to provide funding for the deployment of Next Generation 9-1-1 and for other purposes. Introduced by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) in the previous Congress, the legislation would provide for the establishment of Next Generation 9-1-1 and would vastly improve interoperability with regards to all emergency communication systems. The bill would also establish a Next Generation 9-1-1 cybersecurity center to coordinate with state, local and regional governments to detect and prevent cybersecurity intrusions related to Next Generation 9-1-1. -

Urge your members of Congress to support the Support the Protecting Community Television Act. Introduced by Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) and Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) and Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) in the previous Congress, the legislation would amend the Communications Act of 1934 to reverse the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) 2019 order requiring that cable-related, in-kind contributions be subjected to the statutory five percent franchise fee cap. -
