With the 2020 fiscal year soon coming to an end, congressional leaders will be negotiating legislation to fund the federal government for the next year, including for the Payments In Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program. We need your help to ensure full PILT funding for FY 2021. These negotiations may also provide an opportunity to make key short-term changes to the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) program.
While Congress has been in recess for most of August, county officials continue to urge representatives and senators to support full funding of PILT in FY 2021 and beyond, as well as support for SRS as a bridge funding mechanism until a permanent solution is passed by Congress.
