Monterey County invites your interest in the County Administrative Officer (CAO) position.

The CAO has supervisory authority over department heads except those elected or appointed by the Board, provides policy-based program and financial decision-making support to the Board, and oversees the day-to-day operation of 26 departments.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in public/business administration or related field and 10 years progressive senior level executive experience. California local government experience is desirable. An MA degree and at least five years’ experience reporting to or working closely with a policy making body are desirable.
