    NACo releases new brief on vaccine management solutions for counties

    Counties across America are working to respond to the unprecedented challenges the COVID-19 health crisis created and are integral to the successful implementation of a national vaccine distribution strategy. However, a common challenge faced by counties is efficiently organizing, tracking, and reporting all aspects of the vaccine management and distribution process.

    Despite logistical, structural, and financial challenges, rates of vaccinations has increased by more than 50 percent over a four-week span. As rates of vaccinations continue to increase, the need for efficient management and logistical solutions for scheduling and tracking vaccine appointments has become more pertinent.

    A new NACo brief, Vaccine Management Solutions, highlights several IT solutions for scheduling and managing vaccine appointments that counties of varying sizes have used to organize their distribution, scheduling, and vaccine data tracking efforts. While these solutions may differ in the features offered, the most effective management solutions have several key components in common:

    • compatibility with state and federal data systems,
    • user friendly,
    • able to track key demographic data,
    • and accessible for all residents.

    NACo is hosting a series of webinars that highlight effective technology solutions for county vaccination management. The first in this series was held earlier this month, and featured speakers from Microsoft’s COVID Response team, who shared the company’s approach to supporting jurisdictions and service providers’ management of their vaccine distribution processes.
